GO – a fun and engaging science-backed developmental speech and language video series for babies and toddlers (0-3 years old)
Created in collaboration with a speech and language therapist and a Montessori teacher, not only are the videos mesmerising for your little ones, they are packed full of techniques beneficial to their early language skills (such as basic sign language, big gestures, repetition, eye-contact, baby talk, music, singing, pointing and intraverbal fill-ins).
Each episode is carefully crafted to engage little minds in a playful and interactive manner, making learning not just effective but truly entertaining.
Our educational videos are perfect for parents and caregivers looking to enrich their child’s early learning experiences and develop their speech and language skills.
Our mission
Hey! I'm Hollie
I started Ready Steady Go because I struggled to find fun and engaging educational videos for my one-year-old, Cosmo. In the early days I started to worry about his development; is he smiling enough, does he make eye contact, am I talking and singing to him enough? All of the things we are told as parents are vital in the early years of development.
“In a baby’s first 1,000 days of life, a baby’s brain develops at a pace never repeated again. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a baby’s brain and shape a child’s ability to learn and grow.” Source Unicef: 2010 – 2022
So I started looking for inspiration. What I was hoping to find were techniques to help his communication and language development, positive and enjoyable videos we could watch together, plus some memorable songs that I could use in every day life… I wanted videos that were beneficial for Cosmo’s development.
Then I stumbled across an even bigger problem.
Sadly, here in the UK as well as other parts of the world, speech & language services for babies and toddlers are under-funded and oversubscribed – the NHS does amazing things, but unfortunately demand outstrips supply. This means those little ones with speech and language developmental delays and challenges are often unable to get the support they need.
I am on a mission to try and help. I realised that if I could create videos based on proven speech & language techniques (i.e. basic sign language, repetition, eye contact) that I use everyday with Cosmo, the series could help a wide range of little ones with a variety of needs in a warm, playful and entertaining way.

Why does it matter?
Specialist speech & language therapist
Knowing how important the first 3 years of my son’s development is, I have a constant nagging concern that I’m not doing enough or spending sufficient time on his development.
In his early months I was getting very little communication from Cosmo and it was hard to know how to entertain, teach and play with him. I spent some time researching online looking for ideas and inspiration – I was trying to find something I could learn quickly and repeat to Cosmo.
I realised that, if there was a science-backed educational alternative, then at least any videos would be actively stimulating his brain, helping him learn and develop his early language skills: i.e. ‘active’ rather than ‘passive’ screen time.
Whilst some ‘positive active screen time’ options do exist already, the ambition with Ready Steady Go! is to create fun, engaging videos by combining my 20 years of early years teaching experience with a science-backed approach to speech and language development.
Created in collaboration with a professional speech and language therapist and a Montessori teacher, the videos focus on the following elements essential to early stage development:
- Child-directed speech (baby talk / parentese)
- Direct eye contact
- Big gestures
- Repetition
- Words and objects (triangle of joint attention)
- Music and singing
- Intraverbal / anticipatory fill-ins
- Basic sign language
- Video modeling (e.g. breaking up task into steps)
- Phonics
